ABS club meetings are fun casual affairs. Bring a friend that you’d like to introduce to our art. We welcome visitors and the curious. The standard meeting location is in the Magnolia class room behind Day Hall at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. (Note: your ABS membership includes admission into the ABG for club events (excluding parking fee)). Check our calendar events for exceptions. We have door prizes, sell club merchandise, and members often bring bonsai items to sell. We also provide soft drinks and snacks, have door prizes and the occasional special auction.
Our club tends to cover North Georgia in addition to the Atlanta area. We have several special events on site at various bonsai related locations through the year. See below for more info.
This calendar includes bonsai related events with participation by the Atlanta Bonsai Society. If you would like to add or update events please contact the webmaster. (You might even get super secret access to help.)
Working in teams of two, members of the Bonsai Study Group will transform plain Jane nursery stock junipers into one-of-a-kind works of art. Each team will work independently to style and shape these dwarf, slow-growing evergreens, which make ideal bonsai trees.
Our bonsai sensei Rodney Clemons will select the teams and highlight some of the key changes as the teams work. Audience participation will be encouraged– through voting for your personal favorite.
THE PRIZE? The winning team will receive a free lunch at a local Mexican restaurant and bragging rights for a year!
ALL trees from the Challenge will be sold.
No tree will be priced more than $50.
A great addition to any collection!
